Step-by-Step, Our Dental Implant Process...
At Kellyville Smiles, we follow a precise and patient-focused approach to ensure a seamless dental implant experience. Here’s what you can expect:
Initial Consultation: The process begins with a comprehensive consultation, where our experienced dentist assesses your oral health, discusses your goals, and takes necessary X-rays or 3D scans to evaluate your jawbone structure. Based on this assessment, we create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
Preparatory Procedures (If Required): In some cases, preparatory procedures such as tooth extractions or bone grafting may be necessary to ensure a strong foundation for the implant. These steps help improve the success rate of the implant and ensure long-term durability.
Implant Placement: During the implant placement procedure, a titanium post is surgically inserted into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Over the next 3 to 6 months, a natural healing process called osseointegration occurs, during which the implant fuses with the bone, providing a stable base for the new tooth.
Abutment Placement: Once the implant has successfully integrated with the jawbone, an abutment is placed on top of it. This small connector will serve as the attachment point for the final tooth restoration.
Final Restoration: After the gums heal around the abutment, a custom-made ceramic crown is securely placed. This crown is carefully designed to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth, ensuring a beautiful and natural-looking result.
Aftercare & Follow-Ups: To maintain the longevity of your dental implant, regular dental check-ups and proper oral hygiene are essential. We provide guidance on caring for your new implant and schedule follow-up visits to ensure everything is healing properly. With the right care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

What Is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are titanium screws that are used to recreate the function of a tooth root. They’re surgically placed into the jawbone to restore the missing tooth in that area. This type of dentistry and implant procedure helps address issues like tooth loss and bone loss, providing a long-lasting solution to replace missing teeth.
A few months after placement (which allows adequate time for the jaw bone to fuse with the implant surface), we attach a false tooth made of ceramic or porcelain to replicate the lost tooth. This dental implant procedure can be used for single or multiple tooth replacement, as well as full-arch restoration. In the instance of multiple teeth, we use pairs of implants to support a multi-tooth bridge, ensuring the replacement teeth feel as stable and functional as natural teeth.

Digitally Guided Implant Surgery
To improve the success of your implant surgery and ease recovery, the team at Kellyville Smiles uses digitally guided placement methods. Such measures ensure a minimally invasive and predictable experience for every implant treatment.
For digital mapping, we order a 3D scan of your jaws and take an impression of your arch. From there, we plan the exact placement of each implant that is being installed. The digital replica allows us to work around your current bone anatomy and positioning of the missing teeth.
We send this information to our lab, which creates a surgical guide that helps us precisely place each implant in the desired position. The guided implant procedure is a “keyhole” surgery that is quite comfortable. Only local anesthetic is needed, but additional sedation options are also available. Getting a single dental implant or full-arch replacement is usually easier than what most people expect it to be.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants
Although there’s no guaranteed life expectancy, a properly maintained dental implant has the potential to last the rest of your life. To ensure success, you should brush and floss implants daily as you would any other tooth. Maintaining proper dental care is crucial for long-term success.
Yes! Implants can also be used to stabilize removable dentures for added support throughout the day. If you find that your prosthesis is constantly moving or requires adhesive to feel comfortable, a retained overdenture could be a better option.
Implants are great for anyone with missing teeth who has healthy bone and gum tissue in that area. If you lack the right bone or gum material, however, you may have the option to complete a bone graft first. When that surgical procedure has healed, you’ll be able to proceed with having a dental implant placed.
Dental implants aren’t just for seniors, either. There are plenty of reasons for tooth loss earlier in life, in which implant treatment may be a great choice for tooth replacement.
At least two appointments at our practice are needed to complete your dental implant treatment. At the first (following a consultation to ensure you’re a candidate), we will place the titanium implant. Then, a healing period is allowed, ensuring that the surgical site and surrounding bone looks good. Once healed, you can return to have your chosen restoration placed on the implant.
You have three options when it comes to dental implants, making them suitable for an array of concerns: crowns, dental bridges, or dentures. Crowns are suitable for people who wish to replace just one or two teeth. Bridges are a good idea if you have two or more missing teeth. Dentures are suitable for people who are missing most or all of their teeth and are looking for a stable alternative to removable dentures.
The first step is simple—you can schedule for a free consultation with our dentist. We’ll evaluate you and talk about your options and whether a dental implant procedure is the best way to get the outcomes you’re hoping for.
At Kellyville Smiles, the cost of dental implants can vary depending on several factors, including:
- The number of implants required
- The type of implant and materials used
- Additional procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts
In Australia, a single dental implant typically costs between $3,900 and $6,500. A more precise quote can be provided after a consultation with our dental team.
